Chileno Bay

Chileno Bay Golf & Beach Club is a 1,200-acre private community developed by Discovery Land Company on the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The community anchors around Chileno Beach, one of the few year-round swimmable beaches in Los Cabos and home to the region’s only coral reef.

About Chileno Bay

The land that became Chileno Bay carries significant weight in Los Cabos history. In 1959, California businessman William “Bud” Parr built the Hotel Cabo San Lucas atop Chileno Point, creating one of the first resorts in the region. The property became a retreat for Hollywood celebrities including Bing Crosby, John Wayne, and Lucille Ball, all of whom arrived by private plane or yacht to fish and escape the spotlight. That hotel was demolished, but its legacy of understated luxury informed what Discovery Land Company built when they acquired and relaunched the property in 2015.

Today, Chileno Bay includes 599 private residences across distinct neighborhoods, from beachfront casitas to ridgeline estates. The community operates as a members-only club with a separate Auberge-managed resort component, offering buyers a rare combination: private club exclusivity alongside five-star hospitality services.

Residential options at Chileno Bay range from lock-and-leave casitas near the beach to custom estates on Chileno Point, where the original hotel once stood. The community’s neighborhoods each have their own character: Beach Casitas offer immediate sand access in 2,700 to 4,400 square foot floor plans with private pools; Hacienda Villas draw on colonial Mexican design for families wanting single-level living; Ridge Estates and South Coast deliver the largest footprints for buyers building legacy properties.

Chileno Point represents the top tier, limited to 18 custom home sites with what many consider the most commanding ocean views in Baja. Club Privada, set on land once owned by Parr himself, offers half-acre lots with access to three private beaches and the coral reef.

Club membership ($300,000 initiation, $75,000 annual) provides access to both Tom Fazio golf courses, the Beach Club with its spa and dining venues, and Discovery Land’s Outdoor Pursuits programming. Auberge resort owners can participate in a rental program when not in residence.

Chileno Beach is one of the few year-round swimmable beaches in Los Cabos due to its protected cove formation. The beach holds Blue Flag certification for water quality and safety, and features the only coral reef in the region. Snorkelers can access the reef within 20 yards of shore, where visibility typically ranges from 51 to 60 feet. Marine life includes tropical fish, sea turtles, king angelfish, and the Cortez angelfish, found nowhere else on the planet.

The primary course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship layout measuring 7,260 yards from the back tees, with Sea of Cortez views from every hole. A second 18-hole Fazio course is currently under construction, with the first nine holes already playable. The community also has a lit 6-hole short course for family play and evening rounds.

Chileno Bay offers Beach Casitas (2,700-4,400 sq ft with private pools), Hacienda Villas (3-5 bedrooms in colonial Mexican style), Estero Villas (family homes near the future Glass Beach Club), Mountainside residences (elevated panoramic views), Ridge Estates (modern hacienda architecture starting around $15M), South Coast estates (approximately 19,000 sq ft starting around $17M), and Chileno Point custom home sites (starting around $26M on the historic hotel location). Club Privada offers half-acre lots with access to three private beaches.

Community amenities include the Beach Club with full-service spa, movement studio, lap pool, sauna, and cold plunge. Chileno Park has a splash zone, soccer field, 14 pickleball courts (6 lit for night play), tennis courts, and event lawn. The H2O Cave watersports center provides complimentary equipment for snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
